Paris AttractionsWhen to go There are year round attractions in Paris, but the best times to visit can be April-June and September-October as the weather remains pleasant. The months of July and August see many attractions closing as Parisians go to the beach as temperatures soar. Getting around The best way to get around Paris is by using the Metro (subway) which runs underground throughout the city. Maps are available at Metro stations, where tickets can also be purchased. Taxis are available for hire from taxi stands or by hailing one in the street. River travel on the Seine is also a popular way of seeing more of Paris. Points of interest/attractions Eiffel Tower Built in 1889, the Eiffel Tower is an iconic Paris landmark that welcomes nearly 7 million visitors per year. The Eiffel Tower is open every day of the year and is open all year between 9.30am and 11.45pm, apart from in June, July and August, when it opens at 9am and closes 12.45am. Louvre The Louvre is best known for being the home of the Mona Lisa painting, although it does have a vast collection of impressive art works. Notre Dame Cathedral Notre Dame Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Cathedral, and is one of the most famous cathedrals in the world. The cathedral is open all year and admission is free. The nearest Metro station is St-Michel. Champs Elysses The Champs Elysses is the premier shopping street in Paris and home to some of the most glamorous names in retail such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Hugo Boss. The Arc d’Triomphe is at one end of the Champs Elysses and is a monument to those who have fought in battle for France. Sacre Coeur The Basilica Sacre Coeur is a Roman Catholic Church stands at the top of Montmatre and is the highest point in Paris. Sunset is a popular time to visit to get amazing views across Paris. Entry is free and the Basilica is open between 6am and 11pm. The nearest Metro stations are Anvers and Abesses. Disneyland Paris Disneyland Paris is approximately 30km outside Paris and is a popular daytrip for families and the young at heart. Direct trains connect the major cities in France with the theme park, and it is possible to buy packages covering transport and park entry.
